Article 9

Article 9 is an Arizona state law specific to Arizona’s Department of Economic Security (DES) Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD). Anyone providing services for agencies funded by DDD is required to receive certification and follow Article 9. Positive Behavioral Support provides the foundation for Article 9. Article 9 reviews teaching techniques that can be used to support individuals learning new skills and certain techniques that are prohibited when addressing communication/behavioral concerns for the individuals supported. Providers will learn about the rights of individuals we support, the implementation of behavioral support plans, and how to identify abuse, neglect, and/or exploitation.

Article 9 is delivered in two formats. Each format is 3.5 hours long and your agency will be issued your certificate following successful completion of the course.
